October 2, 2010

Another wonderful time in a most magical place. Not a lot of great weather, but still spent many hours “on the rocks, in the woods, and strolling the carriage ways.” Your cottage had all we needed; very much enjoyed our stay. Perhaps, we will return again to Seal Harbor. Thanks.

            D. and C. – Powhatan, VA

September 25, 2010

We had great weather and a wonderful time. Your home is very comfortable and within walking distance to Wildwood Stable, where we had our horses. Thank you, we hope to return next year.

            K., B. and M. – Meredith, NH

September 18, 2010

I greatly appreciate how carefully you have arranged the house, the “guide sheets” and many amenities, including wi-fi, long distance calling and especially the dog option. And the gift pass to Jordan Pond. Once again, we all had a wonderful time in MDI, will be back again!!

            D. and H.D. – Greenwich, CT

PS – We learned that Kyle Yarborough, the chef previously at Havana, now has his own restaurant, “Mache”. Highly recommend this!

September 6, 2010

Thanks for hosting me this weekend! You have a very comfortable home, and I enjoyed each of  the hikes, carriage roads, mountain tops, beaches and restaurants that you generously shared with me!! I look forward to what I hope are many return trips – and Scrabble rematches – in the future.

            A.M. – Boston, MA

August 26, 2010

Many wonderful hikes and dinners. Beautiful scenery!

            The K's – Upstate, NY

August 12, 2010

We had a wonderful week here in Seal Harbor – beautiful weather! We hiked, canoed, fished, “swam” (more like polar plunge), went on a whale watch, nature cruise and Diver Ed was a fun tour for the kids!! Had lunch at the Jordan Pond House – thank you for the gift card, it was a nice welcome here. Saw a movie at Reel Pizza and thought that was a unique place. Went to Northeast Harbor and had lunch there.

But most importantly we had some quality family time catching up with our relatives David and Mary Kay D. at their cottage (dark yellow) up the street. Thank you for letting us rent your cottage for the week. We had 7 nights of wonderful sleep in your very comfortable beds, with crisp Maine air blowing in the windows! Very relaxing week. Acadia is an amazing example of God’s greatness! Oh, and I can’t forget the Raspberry Disaster ice cream as CJ’s in Bar Harbor – mmmmmm!

The R. and G. Family – Lancaster, PA and Middletown, DE

PS – The view from Cadillac Mountain at dawn is spectacular!!

August 7, 2010

What a great week here at Seal Harbor. We had a little bit of everything at our fingertips here at your home. Appreciated the cleanliness of your place and how “vacationer” friendly it was. This island is truly a beautiful place on this earth.  Thank you for sharing!

            The B’s – Oneida, NY

July 31, 2010

We a beautiful place! Thank you for sharing your home on this piece of heaven on earth. We had a truly exciting week of hiking, biking and swimming (man is the water cold). This place is a perfect location to begin any activity on Mount Desert Island. Thanks again!

            The G’s – Forest, VA

July 24, 2010

Had a very comfortable stay in your home. First time in Seal Harbor for us, will definitely stay here again. It is so much quieter than in town and much more than in Hulls Cove and accessible to activities. Your recommendations for restaurants were spot on. Had wonderful meals. Tea and popovers at the Pond was great fun. Thanks for the gift certificate. All the years we have been coming here, we’ve never done tea there. Glad we did. Also took a stroll through the cemetery up the road, a lot of interesting history in there. (One of my quirky hobbies ;)  Thanks again!

            The M’s – Collegeville, PA

July 3, 2010

Thanks for the use of our home – we had a great time. Hiked Cadillac and the Beehive / even though I’m deathly afraid of heights. Took the Cranberry Cove Ferry, kayaked at sunset, went on the Baker Island Cruise, and ate lobster! Neat experience seeing a different part of the US. Enjoyed the peace and quiet of the cottage.

Thanks for sharing your great house with us! Excellent location close to the park. House was wonderfully stocked. Our children got hold of the book (see above) and said it all – they had a great time and we all can’t wait to come back.

The W’s – Macedonia, Turnsburg, Aurora, Stow and Columbus, OH

June 12, 2010

We haven’t been on a vacation – just the two of us – in a very long time. Coming here was the best thing we could have done for ourselves! The raw wilderness of the cliffs and sea contrasted with the gentle serenity of the forests are a stunning reminder of how gracious our God is! This is truly an amazing place, and making this cottage our home for the week was a blessing! Thank–you!

April 8, 2010

Great time exploring ANP and Desert Island. Similar to home, but with an ocean. Favorite spots to explore included Thunder Hole, Otter Cove, Wonderland, Bar Harbor, and Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Lobster and scallops from Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound were AWESOME! We had great weather and saw very few other people. Great visit, great food, great friends.

            B., D., J., M. – Saranac Lake, NY

PS – Will be back soon for Popovers!

October 25, 2009

Fun Fun Fun with bookgroup 2009! Thanks for the fabulous birthday celebrations. Popovers were sublime. Cake was divine – all three pieces!!

Thanks for the great time with bookgroup. We will be back! Just what I needed to relax and visit with the girls. Even our dreary, rainy day was fun – games, movies, lots of yummy food, popovers... Enjoyed the hike to the beach and collecting beautiful rocks. Love,

            J.B. – Cape Elizabeth, ME

What a perfect place for a bookgroup weekend!! Thank you, Brenda & Howie, for letting us stay! Even though the weather was dreary, we had a great time watching movies, eating yummy food, celebrating H's birthday, driving through the park, sitting by the fire at Jordan Pond House eating popovers, doing a puzzle and eating more!! Loved spending the weekend here with wonderful friends (we missed K)! I love bookgroup!! Thank you, thank you!

We loved Sunshine Daydream Cottage! Seal Harbor is a perfect spot on the island. And the house was comfy, cozy, perfect for cooking delicious meals and so wonderfully clean (great with a five-month-old!). It was the highlight of an already fantastic trip! We'll be back,

            The D's – Phlladelphia, PA

September 26, 2009

Great location. We've stayed all over the island and this is the best – and the dog friendly park at Little Long Pond is fabulous. We'll be back!

September 19, 2009

Thank you so much for sharing your home and allowing pets! We've been vacationing here for over ten years and this was our first time staying in Seal Harbor. It's the best location for all we like to do and the quiet side was very nice! I'm sure we will be back again! Thank you for the gift certificate to Jordan Pond House. We love the popovers there (as does our dog!). We had an excellent vacation and wanted to thank you both again for sharing your home!

            The G's – Bellingham, MA

September 12, 2009

This has been the best vacation I have had in many years. Celebrating K's birthday at the same time also made it wonderful. As I mentioned the other day, I love this house. It is so cozy and it reminds me of a house I have lived in. If it wasn't for the winter here, I would love living here. It is so beautiful and so much to see. We went to see sunrise on Wednesday at 6:05 am. Very cold but what a sight. Thank you for saving the best weather of the season for our visit. Oh, the popovers are so good, we went three times. Regards,

            C.C. – Quaker Hill, CT

Thank you so much!! I loved the place and it feels like home after only a few hours. I rode my bike to the top of Cadillac Mountain on my 50th birthday, 9/9/09. It only took me 45 minutes, it was amazing!! I know that I will be returning to Acadia again soon, because I fell in love with all its beauty when I was here last November. I can't even begin to list all that I love about this place. Again, thanks for the gift card to Jordan Pond House, we returned two more times during the week and a half, because it was so delicious!!

            K.S. –Quaker Hill, CT

Wonderful home and area. I stayed to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday. I enjoyed my stay in Seal Harbor. The carriage roads were wonderful. The Jordan Pond House popovers were delicious. Regards,

            C.S. – Quaker Hill, CT

I was only here for a couple of days – visiting my sister for her 50th birthday. I had a wonderful stay. The "cottage" is great and the area is beautiful. I hope to come back again!! Thank you,

            B.S. – Quaker Hill, CT

August 28, 2009

Thank you so much for the amazing wedding gift! Staying here this week was the perfect way to spend our honeymoon. We loved brunch at the Jordan Pond House so much that we went back a second time! This is truly the perfect location, as it is just a walk to the beach and a short ride to anywhere else you would want to go. Thanks again! Love,

            The B's – Canton, MA

August 22, 2009

We have never had such a great time on MDI. This cottage is key with two young children. This vacation is also wonderful and we love the new coffee shop that opened up down the street. My three and a half year old son especially loved throwing rocks at the beach and jumping in the water off the dock. The weather has been in the 90's until yesterday – so beautiful! We enjoyed hiking, biking, even a few runs on the nature trails up at the Jordan Pond House. Thanks again!

            The L's – Gorham, ME

July 25, 2009

Though it is raining as I write this. We had mostly good weather and thoroughly enjoyed our time on Mount Desert Island: biking the carriage roads, hiking Gorham Mountain, exploring the beaches and towns. This is a very comfortable and well situated house. The kitchen had everything we needed – it is marvelously stocked with bowls, utensils, appliances etc. We cooked an amazing lobster dinner with lobster rolls (New Basics cookbook recipe) the next day YUM!! Thank you!

            The S's – Lyme, NH

July 18, 2009

What a great place! We are a family of 5 and our children are all nearly grown up now (14, 16 & 20). We've been to many of the National Parks in the US and since this one's the closest we get to visit this one more often! This is our second visit to the Bar Harbor area as a family. We really liked this location. It is near a beach, near Otter Cliffs (my kids love climbing on those rocks), near carriage roads access and near all the trails. Weather was very kind to us this time, we had no rain except on Thursday afternoon. It was so special to have stayed here at 14 Jordan Pond Road. We had plenty of room and everything we needed here. We played games together we haven't played in years! We watched the movies (a few), sat out at the picnic table and ate many meals here as well. This is a perfect location for our family and we're so glad we found this house. Thanks for letting us stay here, we hope to be back soon!

            The R's – Dracut, MA

July 7, 2009

Just a dandy visit and a fine house with a good spirit! Our fiddle / guitar / step-dancing session on 30 June will live on in our memories. Guests- sister Jen, niece Sam, and 'Grandma' (Mom) enjoyed the Independence Day holiday weekend. All Good.

Great place - very comfortable and easy access to the carriage roads, park, etc. See you (or at least your cabin!) again! Thanks.

            C.D. & K.R. – San Francisco, CA

June 26, 2009

We loved our stay at your wonderful cottage! This has been one of our best family vacations ever! God's handiwork is evident in all we saw. The magnificent coastline, majestic mountains and marvelous wildlife! We hiked and biked almost every day. We never tired of the awesome creation of out awesome creator! The popovers were delicious too - thank you!! We tried to get a whale watch but it was too foggy ... so we just enjoyed more of the island. Thank you for a clean reasonably priced, great location of a summer vacation house! My daughter cried the last night because we had to leave. We would certainly enjoy coming back again if the Lord allows. May God bless your family! Sincerely,

            The S's – Manheim, PA

What a fabulous way to end the year and begin anew! You are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed all of our hikes, especially Wonderland and finding Mike’s spot. Such a treat to find the lobster pound and eat lobsters. Thank you – we will be back anytime you can put up with all the boy energy!

            J.  Cape Elizabeth, ME

Thank you for having us here. I had a great time doing the hikes and stargazing at Sand Beach. I really liked my bed in the corner.  I love you Brenda and Howie. Thank you again.

            T., 12  Cape Elizabeth, ME

I had a wonderful time up here – though I must apologize for the rowdiness and Monopoly! I hope you’ll have the courage to invite us again.

November 13, 2008

Thank you so much for opening your home to me. The hikes and the park as a whole have a way of recharging my soul and that truly is priceless. Things sure are quiet, I had forgotten how loud a clock can be… I found plenty to do even though my friends would say, “Everything is closed”. I had some great meals out and met some of the nicest people. Ahhh, locals, such a rare and wonderful people. Looking forward to seeing this all with snow cover. Thanks again,

            D. – Kennebunk, ME

October 26, 2008

Mom: “It’s a very lovely place to have a nice vacation.”

John: “It’s like a secret. Being able to walk out the door and be in the midst of Acadia. Great house. Nice touches. Thank you!”

Margaret: “We went to dinner at Po Boys and laughed, told family stories and enjoyed each other’s company – we had a great bed too! Thanks.”

Gene: “Park Rd., Sand Beach, Otter Cliffs, and hike up Day Mountain, rain, warm wind – great place! Thanks.”

Rosemary: “Ahhh, Acadia, the air, the walks, sitting on a rock in the sun overlooking Long Pond meditating, touching the leaves, touching the sky, feeling the salt, I love this place. It sings to me. My mom looked out at the top of Cadillac and said look at that ‘rock with a fur coat’ referring to the islands. And then this home, it is simple, beautiful, welcoming, warm and just right. Thank you!! And for all who follow, may your stay be filled with surprises.”

             R.G. – Kennebunk, ME

October 9, 2008

Exactly what we were seeking. A quiet, peaceful, out-of –the-way resting place with easy access to ANP. Thanks for hosting us in your wonderful home!

            The M's– Hummelstown, PA

October 5, 2008

Even though we’ve been to ANP a hundred times, we’ve never stayed as long as a full week. It was terrific! You have a great rental: very clean, very quiet, and very restful, with all the amenities of home.  Our new favorite hike is the Perpendicular Trail up Mansell Mountain. Thanks for opening your cottage to us. We had a great time.

            N. & D.  Bath, ME

September 27, 2008

Location, location, location. What a great place. We love the carriage roads, the beaches, the brook & everything else. Thanks for the tip about “Island Cruises”, what a fantastic tour of the isles off Bass Harbor. Also, thanks for the popovers, we had them with lunch after a morning of biking. Thanks for everything.

August 23, 2008

Excellent location to all points on the island -> carriage roads, Seal Cove beach, shuttle for access to other places on the island. Weather was fabulous too!

            The C's  Westborough, MA

August 16, 2008

This is our first time renting a home and not a hotel or a dollhouse cottage. By far, the best and we would definitely do it again. Such a nice touch with a gift to Jordan Pond. Go for the popover a-la-mode. Fantastic! It seemed to be a pretty busy week here (and not the greatest weather) – all in all, a great time!

            The C's  Boston, MA

August 9, 2008

Charming place. Love proximity to the carriage paths and the beautiful little cove.

            The G's  Chelmsford, MA

August 2, 2008

We’ve been visiting Bar Harbor for many years and once again had a wonderful vacation. Thank you for sharing your home – it was comfortable & cozy. What a great location! Popovers & lobster stew at Jordan Pond were the best (we went twice!). We were able to hike, kayak, explore & shop. Overall, a great week to remember! Thanks again.

July 26, 2008

Thanks for sharing your home. We had a great time being summer tourists in our home state. Despite a lot of rain and one all night series of T-storms, we managed to kayak, swim, sun, bike, hike, dine & relax.

            R., K. & C.  Falmouth, ME

July 13, 2008

You guys have an amazing house next to the beach / Bar Harbor. We love both those areas along with all the beautiful hikes in Acadia. We might have done a hike every day we were here, and we got the popovers with ice cream & the amazing “Maine Black Bear” ice cream from CJ’s. Well, thank you very much for letting our family stay here.  It was a great VK and one of the most beautiful areas I’ve seen. Again, thank you!

            J., 17 – Williamsburg, VA

First of all, thank you so much for opening your home for others to stay here! We’ve been truly blessed to stay in your beautiful home for our stay in Bar Harbor. You have quite the perfect location in having pleasant and peaceful privacy, but being so close to the livelihood of this town. Maine and here in particular is such a beautiful place. If I had a dime for each time one of us said “Ooooo” or “Ahhhh” to the scenery here, I’d be retired before even beginning a solid career. Your home provided us with great comfort and just a great time!  I’m jealous ya’ll have this home and location at your fingertips because it is just so beautiful a place and I hope to return some day. Thank you again,

            A., 20  Richmond, VA

Thanks again for the use of your quiet, comfy, cozy home… It was perfect for some much-needed family together time. We were truly blessed by all this area has to offer & hope to come back soon and often! We recommend the sunset kayak trip (we went with Maine State Kayak Trips out of Southwest Harbor) as the scenery was beautiful and lots of wildlife to enjoy. We pray blessings upon you and all who stay here at your home.

            The R. Family, Williamsburg, VA

July 6, 2008

Wonderful location close to beach and trails. Nice and quiet for children or R&R. We very much enjoyed our stay here. Don’t forget to hike over for popovers and ice cream, a thirty minute walk on the carriage trails.
